Letting Go

I have been holding on to old journals and notebooks for 10 years. 10 years of processing, forgiveness letters, ideas, morning pages, etc. On December 23, 2016 I burned them all. This picture is evidence. I love the cleansing power of fire. I am ready to rise again from the ashes. Ritual is so important. It allows us to heal, release and move forward.

What are you ready to release? What are you ready for the sacred fire to consume and transmute? I love fire, although I used to be terrified of it. Now I could sit and watch it for hours as a deep contemplative meditation. I remember the days after my dad died just sitting by the fire place and allowing the flames to hold my grief. I have now come to peace with the energy that my 5 year old self used to fear by facing my fear and walking on fire. I truly came to understand the power of my mind and to trust my guidance when I was able to walk on fire as a part of a sacred ritual. But that's another story.

Many spiritual communities offer burning bowl ceremonies this time of year as a sacred ritual to release what no longer serves you. I encourage you to find a spot and burn that ish!
